    • Finely analyzed the dynamics of epidemics via network-based propagation models, publishing two journal studies (Rusu et al. 2021, Rusu et al. 2023) and an award-winning conference paper on the topic (Rusu et al. 2022). Thesis available online.
    • Used graph neural networks and reinforcement learning to derive highly effective and explainable policies for testing, tracing and vaccination in epidemics where limited control resources are available and interventions need to be audited
    • Developed a realistic individual-based mean-field model to assess the impact of different manual and digital contact tracing strategies on the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus
    • Mentored, supervised and demonstrated labs for undergraduate and postgraduate students in several areas, including machine learning, deep learning, data science and software engineering.
